October 2013 Reminder

October 2013 Reminder Newsletter September was a joyful and colorful month. We celebrated the 10th anniversary of our International Night. People from the whole world came to show their cultural background through music, food, and dance, clothes and language. Around 26 countries were represented that night. Welcome Bishop Eaton

On Sunday, October 5th, Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, the new ELCA Presiding Bishop (the head of the Lutheran church in the US), will be installed in Chicago.  She is the first female Presiding Bishop in the ELCA.  She is articulate and decisive and emphasizes the importance to make room for differences in our church and find the commonality we all share as Christians.   She also encourages us as Lutherans to “go out into our communities” and more…

Godspeed and farewell

Remembering, changing, and looking forward

A large number of us gathered on the third Sunday of August to give thanks to our beloved Pastor, to hear the first Keila Rodriguez sermon at Gloria Dei, and to listen to the “living cloud of witnesses” to the work of Santiago and his remarkable family.  They are a family in mission, and they are still serving.  Faithfulness is the witness, and relationship the model!
